Instructions

    Combine halved grapes, sugar, and 250ml of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook 10 minutes, mashing grapes as they soften.

    Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing firmly to extract all juice. Stir in lemon juice and set aside.

    Bring 500ml of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags, and steep 5 minutes. Remove bags without squeezing.

    Combine hot tea and grape syrup in a 2-litre pitcher. Add remaining 250ml cold water and stir.

    Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate at least 1 hour. Serve over ice with halved grapes as garnish.

Pro tip

Muscadines are a late-summer crop in the South. Concord grapes or dark Coronation grapes make an excellent substitute when muscadines are out of season.
