Matcha Pineapple Smoothie

Pineapple's sharp, tropical acidity is the perfect foil for matcha's deep earthiness. This bright, tangy smoothie tastes like a green tea piña colada — without the rum. The bromelain in pineapple also aids digestion, making this as functional as it is delicious.

Instructions

  1. 1

Sift matcha into a small bowl. Add hot water and whisk until smooth. Set aside to cool for 2 minutes.

  2. 2

Add frozen pineapple, coconut water, frozen banana, and ginger (if using) to a blender.

  3. 3

Pour in the cooled matcha concentrate.

  4. 4

Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth. Taste — the pineapple provides natural sweetness, but add honey if you prefer it sweeter.

  5. 5

Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Garnish with a small pineapple wedge on the rim.

Pro tip

Coconut water keeps this lighter and more refreshing than coconut milk. For a thicker, creamier version, use full-fat coconut milk instead. Fresh pineapple works too — just add 4–5 ice cubes to compensate.
