Matcha Berry Smoothie

Two of the most antioxidant-dense ingredients on the planet — matcha and mixed berries — blended into one deep purple-green smoothie. The berries' tartness plays beautifully against matcha's umami, and the colour is spectacular. This is the smoothie you make when you want to feel genuinely good.

Instructions

  1. 1

Sift matcha into a small bowl. Add hot water and whisk until completely smooth. Let cool for 2 minutes.

  2. 2

Add frozen berries, frozen banana, oat milk, and chia seeds (if using) to a blender.

  3. 3

Pour in the cooled matcha concentrate.

  4. 4

Blend on high for 60 seconds until completely smooth. The colour will be a deep purple-green — that's the anthocyanins from the berries mixing with the chlorophyll in the matcha.

  5. 5

Taste and add sweetener if needed. Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Top with a few fresh berries and a dusting of matcha.

Pro tip

Wild blueberries have significantly more antioxidants than cultivated blueberries and are worth seeking out frozen. If you add chia seeds, let the blended smoothie sit for 2 minutes — the seeds will swell slightly and thicken the texture.
