Matcha Banana Smoothie

Frozen banana gives this smoothie its thick, ice-cream-like texture while naturally sweetening the matcha so you need zero added sugar. Creamy, filling, and packed with potassium, L-theanine, and antioxidants — this is the smoothie that converts matcha sceptics.

Instructions

  1. 1

Dissolve matcha: sift matcha into a small bowl, add hot water, and whisk until completely smooth. Let cool for 2 minutes.

  2. 2

Add frozen banana slices, cold oat milk, nut butter (if using), and vanilla to a blender.

  3. 3

Pour in the cooled matcha concentrate.

  4. 4

Blend on high for 45–60 seconds until completely smooth and thick. If too thick, add milk 1 tbsp at a time. If too thin, add a few more frozen banana slices.

  5. 5

Pour into a glass and serve immediately. Dust with a pinch of matcha powder on top for presentation.

Pro tip

The riper the banana before freezing, the sweeter your smoothie. Freeze bananas at peak ripeness — brown-spotted bananas are ideal. Pre-dissolving the matcha prevents green powder clumps in the final drink.
