Matcha Orange Creamsicle Latte

A grown-up riff on the childhood classic. Fresh orange juice brings bright citrus acidity, a splash of vanilla-sweetened oat milk adds the creamy 'creamsicle' element, and matcha ties it all together with earthy depth. Layered in a glass it looks like a work of art — orange at the bottom, creamy white in the middle, vivid green on top. Tastes exactly like it sounds.

Instructions

  1. 1

Whisk matcha with 60ml of 75°C water until smooth and frothy. Set aside.

  2. 2

Stir together oat milk, vanilla extract, and honey until the honey dissolves. Refrigerate until cold.

  3. 3

Fill two glasses with ice. Pour the fresh orange juice over the ice.

  4. 4

Gently pour the vanilla oat milk over the orange juice using the back of a spoon to create a second layer.

  5. 5

Finally, slowly pour the matcha concentrate over the oat milk layer. Garnish with a curl of orange zest and serve immediately before the layers blend.

Pro tip

Freshly squeezed orange juice is essential here — carton juice lacks the brightness to stand up to matcha. Blood orange juice makes a stunning deep-red version in winter. For a richer drink, use full-fat coconut milk instead of oat milk. The layers will blend as you drink — that's part of the fun.
