Instructions

  1. 1

Steep the hojicha in 90°C water for 3 minutes. Hojicha is roasted and handles higher temperatures than other green teas.

  2. 2

Strain into a small jug. Stir in the maple syrup while still hot. Let cool for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Fill two glasses with ice.

  4. 4

Pour the chilled oat milk over the ice, filling each glass halfway.

  5. 5

Pour the warm hojicha concentrate over the milk — it will create a beautiful layered gradient. Dust with a pinch of cinnamon and serve immediately.

Pro tip

Hojicha powder (like matcha powder but roasted) can be whisked directly into cold milk for an even faster version — use 1 tsp per serving. The warm tea poured over cold milk creates a natural gradient; stir before drinking for the full flavour. Hojicha has very low caffeine, making this a great evening drink.
