Instructions

  1. 1

Steep the green tea bags in 80°C water for 2 minutes. Remove bags and let cool to room temperature.

  2. 2

Stir in the honey while the tea is still slightly warm. Refrigerate until fully chilled.

  3. 3

Juice the blood oranges. Combine the blood orange juice and lemon juice in a small jug.

  4. 4

Fill glasses with ice. Pour the chilled green tea over the ice, filling each glass about two-thirds full.

  5. 5

Slowly pour the blood orange juice over the back of a spoon to create a layered effect — the juice will sink and create a beautiful gradient.

  6. 6

Garnish with a blood orange slice on the rim. Stir gently before drinking.

Pro tip

Blood oranges are most available December through April in Canada — navel orange juice works as a year-round substitute. The layered pour technique is easy: hold a spoon just above the tea surface and pour the juice slowly over the back of it. For a sparkling version, replace half the green tea with sparkling water.
