Mango Chili Iced Tea

Sweet mango puree and a kick of fresh chili over black tea — this bold, unexpected combination is sweet, fruity, and just spicy enough to keep things interesting. Inspired by the street food flavours of Mexico and Southeast Asia.

Instructions

  1. 1

Steep the tea bags in boiling water for 4 minutes. Remove bags and let cool.

  2. 2

Blend the mango puree with the lime juice and agave syrup until smooth.

  3. 3

Combine the cooled tea, mango mixture, cold water, and chili slices in a pitcher. Stir well.

  4. 4

Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the chili infuse. Taste and remove the chili slices when the heat level suits you.

  5. 5

Strain into glasses over ice. Garnish with a lime slice and a thin chili ring.

Pro tip

The longer the chili steeps, the hotter the drink gets — taste every 30 minutes and remove when it hits your preferred heat level. Alphonso or Ataulfo mangoes give the sweetest, most aromatic puree. For a milder version, use a pinch of chili powder instead of fresh chili.
